Karl Duenzl, EMT-P Paramedic Supervisor
A qualified tactical medic with NYPD's Emergency Services unit, Karl brings over 20 years of
experience to the GMG staff. Before joining the NYPD, Karl was an EMT-B in the NYC 911
system. Now a seventeen year veteran of the NYPD, he has served with the Emergency Service
Unit for the past 10 years. Karl is an instructor for the NYPD ESU Specialized Training School.
He has operated on countless tactical operations and dignitary protection details. Karl is a
member of the DHS/ FEMA NYTF-1 Urban Search and Rescue Task Force and has responded
to several disasters (both man-made and natural). He has worked in the private sector
providing protective services to business executives and celebrities. Karl is also an instructor
with the SureFire Institute teaching firearms and low-light tactics. His credentials include
Haz-Mat Technician, ACLS, PALS, BCLS, AHLS, PHTLS, EMT-T and Emergency Psychological
Technician as well as several instructor ratings in various rescue methodologies.

Dr. Maurizio Miglietta
Director, Medical Operations
Dr. Miglietta is a Trauma and Critical Care Surgeon currently serving as the Chief of the Division
of Acute Care Surgery and Director of Trauma and Emergency Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian
Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center. Immediately prior, he served as Chief of
Trauma and Critical Care at the renowned and historic Bellevue Hospital/ New York University
School of Medicine. Dr. Miglietta serves on the Speakers Bureau and Advisory Board for Pfizer
Pharmaceuticals. He is board-certified in both Surgery and Critical Care. He provides medical
support for the United States Secret Service – New York Field Office and is an Honorary Police
Surgeon for the New York City Police Department. Dr. Miglietta has been responsible for the
medical operations (Dignitary Medical Protection, personnel, disaster medical logistics) for the
United States Secret Service and Department of State Diplomatic Security Service during the
annual United Nations General Assembly in New York City as well as various other medical
protective operations. He has approximately 30 peer-reviewed publications and has trained
various federal agencies (U.S. Secret Service, Drug Enforcement Agency, Diplomatic Security
Service, Defense Intelligence Agency, NYPD Intelligence Division, NYPD Sniper Division, and
others) on emergency and disaster scenarios. Dr. Miglietta has received awards from the
Federal Law Enforcement Association and Homeland Security Foundation for his continued
work with law enforcement. Dr. Miglietta was recently honored as one of the 2008 Crain’s
Business Forty Under 40. Each year Crain’s selects 40 outstanding individuals who have made
a major impact in their respective industries before the age of 40.
Dr. Miglietta has recently been appointed as Chief Advisor on Trauma and Critical Care Surgery,
Medical Intelligence, Tactical Emergency Medical Care, for PSG - the Protector Services Group.
PSG is a London based, privately owned, security and risk management company with offices
in London, Los Angeles, New York, Dubai, Singapore and Sydney, and affiliate offices in 40
other countries worldwide. A specialist provider of tailored security solutions for complex
international challenges.
Dr. Miglietta and Global Medical Guardians have become a Corporate Partner of ResQglobal,
an independent, neutral organization providing an immediate international rescue service for
victims of disaster worldwide, regardless of race, politics or religion. Dr. Miglietta will advise on
the Medical Training of the ResQglobal Pathfinder Group, Search and Rescue Team, as well as
Gold / Silver Command with regards to Medical Intelligence and Field Based Medical
Operations.
Dr. Miglietta and Global Medical Guardians have engaged in a Joint Venture with
Quintessentially Secure, a member company of Quintessentially the worlds leading concierge
and luxury worldwide group. Dr. Miglietta and the Board of Quintessentially Secure, are actively
developing tailored medical services as both a part of bespoke security solutions, and as a
medical service in its own right, in particular for high, ultra high net worth, private family offices
